The Trafalgar Square Christmas tree has been an annual gift to the people of London by
the city of Oslo each year since 1947. It is given as a token of gratitude for British support of Norway during the Second World War.

Beck & Pollitzer is proud to be part of this annual tradition and as such we treat the Christmas tree with the care and respect it deserves, ensuring that it arrives in London in the best possible condition for our on-site team to erect, ready to be decorated in time for the lighting ceremony.

The chosen tree is cut down in November during a ceremony attended by the British Ambassador to Norway, Mayor of Oslo and Lord Mayor of Westminster.  After the spruce

is cut, it is shipped to Great Britain by sea, typically to the port of Immingham. Here, it is greeted by Beck & Pollitzer then loaded onto one of our vehicles and transported by road by our heavy haulage team to Trafalgar Square in the heart of London.
